There Once Was a Ship
Sing at least 30 seconds of a sea shanty on a ship of some kind, and record and submit a video of your team doing it. Any type of ship counts: kayak, SeaBus, AquaBus, False Creek Ferry, BC Ferry, yacht, canoe, etc. Do not be a public nuisance, but you are encouraged to ask nicely if people would like to join you in singing.
Submit a Google Drive, YouTube, or similar link (with public viewing enabled) to your videos, and a phone number if you want to be able to be contacted about your submission.
For 400 points, the ship you are on must clearly be moving in the water from the video. Floatplanes count for full points, but only when they are on the water; if they are in the air, it will count for half.
200 points will be awarded for:
- singing aboard a stationary ship,
- singing next to a ship rather than on it,
- singing on or near a ship-like structure e.g. Canada Place, HMCS Discovery.
- singing on a ship-related structure e.g. AquaBus/False Creek Ferry pickup location.
No points will be awarded for doing it on a stand-up paddle board because that is not a ship. But if you do that, we still want to see.
Up to 100 additional discretionary points will be given for particularly noteworthy submissions, such as getting a whole group involved singing raucously together, or singing particularly well, or really just having a lot of fun with it.
Full points will be awarded for singing on HMCS Discovery, but seeing as it is an active military base, you will also be reported to the relevant authorities. So, perhaps consider: not doing that.
