A Tale of Three Cities
I sing you now a tale of time,
A story told with truth and rhyme.
In Vancouver, of days of yore,
Before our time, between the wars.
It was quite small, and not yet old,
But Louis Taylor planned so bold
To form the city that we know,
Amalgamation, such is so.
And though he could not see it through,
The others, they wanted it too.
So three towns met, becoming one,
And now, the land, it has no fun.
Point Grey, South Van, all one the same,
They joined the subject of our game.
Now three years ’til centenary,
The rest, they say, is history.
I say to you, go to the place
Where, once, these towns met face to face,
And look within a darkened case,
That marks the end of your long chase.
A Salish channel, deep and blue,
Where orca pods are passing through,
Contains what you are looking for.
Open it up and look no more.
